| Hello,
Has anyone ever considered an open source project for providing things
like credit scores and background checks? Apparently this information
is public record, but currently, companies that offer to provide this
information either charge money, or require signing up for some type of
service. It seems like these publicly available documents should be
available to anyone for free. I think that it would make for an
interesting open source project. Another popular service is CARFAX.
Once again, it is a pay service that I assume does a search of public
automobile records and charges users a fee for the information. I
wouldn't mind researching the topics, and finding out exactly what fees
are involved if any for acquiring this type of information, and
discussing a way to provide users a service free of charge, or at the
very least, nearly free of charge, and without all of the banners,
spam, and sign up services associated with pay based sites. What do you
think?

I think you will be facing legal problems if you implement something like
this...
