What opensource program to use for writing a book?

| Is there software out there that would allow one to write a book?
Am thinking of publishing myself but need some decent software and don't
want to spend too much, if anything.
Currently I am using openoffice, but it does not have the feature that
squeezes the text to align with the margin.
Thanks

| Hi Stewart..
I have an open source directory that lists open source alternatives to
commercial application. In your case you might be looking for an
alternative to Adobe InDesign (their desktop publishing (DTP)
application). Check http://opensourcealternative.to/indesign
There is only one hit so far - but I am looking for more.
I hope this might help you.
Best regards,

(I sorry find I posted this message twice, my ISP's news server was
complaining)

| Thanks yeah I also found Serif's PagePlus SE, not opensource but does the
job. It does seem a little limited though.
Clicked on the link but "The requested URL could not be retrieved" comes
up.

| Hi again..
New applications have been added to our open source directory. And we
have realized that InDesign and thus its open source alternative
Scribus - may not be the most optimal applications for writing books.
They are, however, greate for normal DTP - e.g. small documents,
brochures, etc.
Instead take a look at http://www.osalt.com/kword

| Hi Stewart..
I have double-checked the link - and it seems to me to work perfectly.
However, there has been an outage last w due to a http server
configuration change.
