Fascinating. Intrigued by this, I gave it a try.
While the concept is attractive, I think in practice this would be too
cumbersome for routine use. Perhaps it could be reserved for the one
"irreplaceable" disc you have on occasion; but then it still might be
easier to simply make multiple backups on different brands of media and
store them separately.
For one thing, this program only operates on a disc image (ISO). So if
you've mastered your optical disc on the fly, using a burning program that
copies files to an optical disc, you're out of luck. You would first have to
go and create an .ISO from an error-free "read" of the finished disc in order
to then go and generate the ECC file.
Also then, if you want to use the option of including the ECC data in the
burned disc itself, you would have to re-burn the disc in order to
incorporate the extra data - since the .ECC data did bot exist when you
extracted the ISO.
I'm not sure whether this would work at all on multiple-session discs
because they may not necessarily be able to be stored (or extracted) as
single ISO image files.
