Well, there are some that think we are all abnormal and think the same
of our activity.

Is your activity normal? If so, then there must be *some* normal
activity here.

Well then, no.

Sadly, I must truthfully report there is no normal activity here. *in
hopeful voice* Maybe you know someone normal, who could help us all
out...?

I try my best to stay away from "normal" people.

Hello,
I've been cruising through the groups looking for new computer related
stuff. Most of the Linux groups seem to be full of really juvenile porn,
spammers, TROLLS, or more flames than genuine posts. I think that when a
group becomes unused, that these scoundrels just take it over, unnoticed.

The moderated groups don't seem to have this problem because they use
spam-removal bots.

Maybe we should contact usenet about removing dead groups.

I use Mandrake-10, win2k, and have one win98 machine that I can't share
a connection with. So I'm working on a Linux server sharing a dial-up
connection with 2 Windows machines. The win2k machine works fine, and
I'm using it now to send this post. The win98 machine does file sharing
just fine, but won't use the connection supplied by the Linux server.

In any case, I have a network problem, and that's why I'm here. I was
just about to unsubscribe when I saw your post. It seems to be one of
the very few real ones here.

Haven't got a clue as to whether this is a dead group or not.

Michael

::digging in the cobwebs in my brain:: I can't remember if we had to have
the IPX loaded on our W98's...way back when...or not. I know it was a royal
bear to get the wife's and my computers networked together then. We're both
on WXPHome now and they just seemed to have networked themselves together
slicker than greased boogers.

If you're having problems with your Linux machine, why not try posting
a detailed description of the problem (and steps taken thus far) to
alt.linux?

Not yet. It's just that so much more traffic is going on /elsewhere/
that I/we don't have anything particular to post here every day - I'm
not the one who created this ng anyway.
