i m new to this grp n interested to know about compression, a great
topic.
i was seeing the working of gzip and bzip. i have read in most of the
sites as bzip is efficient than gzip. i tried some free source codes i
found the result as reverse( gzip efficient than bzip). it may coz of
poor coding. i tried knowing exactly what is the algorithm. bzip ia
only bwt n mtf. as well gzip a combination of lz77 and huffman
techniques. as lz77 is dictinary model it only should give efficient
percentage. but i want to know what is correct n exact comparision of
gzip n bgip.

thnx in advance for the help.

Bzip(2) compresses better but is slower than Gzip:
