Author filter to convert video stream from MPEG2 to H.264?

Hi,
I've been tasked with finding a solution for this. The video camera
will be generating MPEG2 output. It needs to be compressed to H.264,
via a filter and then sent across the Internet.

I have not been able to find a suitable filter for this purpose
though. Does anyone know if one is available?

Thanks,
S

The way I convert .m2t (mpeg2 transport streams) is use a program called MPEG Streamclip. If you are going for quality I would first import the mpeg2 transport stream into Streamclip and export to some quicktime uncompressed format. Then take the resulting file and export that to H.264 from Quicktime 7 Pro. It takes a while but it's well worth it. Check out www.shapeofdays.com for a good overview of H.264.
