cannot clear default namespace?

i'm using VS 2005 with an upgraded class library project (C#).
need to clear the default namespace so that the namespace is not prepended
to the .resources files.
but VS 2005 won't let me clear the namespace, the error i get is :
"The entered value for property 'Default Namespace' is invalid"

so how can i clear the default namespace?
else is there something i can do to the .resources files to keep the default
namespace from being prepended?
