Problems deploying SmartDevice application
|
|
|
| For some reason, I can no longer debug or deploy a smartdevice application
using VS2005. I get errors such as "no such interface" when trying to use
the emulator or the pocket pc device.
I've read several suggestions to fix this. So far I've run the clean tool to
remove any previous betas of VS2005, I've uninstalled VS2005, uninstalled
activesync, and re-installed them in. I've done this several times, and in a
different order, without success.
Is there anything else I can try? I want to avoid a re-install of XP.

| Do you have a network installed? If not, there
is a loopback emulator that would get you one.

It's on a standalone machine which has a network card connected to a
broadband modem. But, like I said, it was working fine a w ago without a
loopback emulator. The error about "no such interface" suggests a missing
registry entry. An entry which the VS2005 setup doesn't install or check
for, as numerous repairs and re-installs haven't fixed it.
So it seems that a reinstall of XP is needed to fix it. Which is
ridiculous... <sigh>
