Author Visual Studio 2005: Configuration Manager seems very buggy

I've upgraded from Visual Studio 2003 to VS 2005. I am attempting to add
Itanium and x64 platforms to my projects.

I'm finding that the Configuration Manager has gotten completely mucked up.
Specifically, if I change the Configuration from Debug to Release, it does
NOT change all of the individual projects to conform to that. What is worse,
it will change the Release configurations to now point to the debug
configurations! I have spent time trying to get it all defined correctly.
Each time I get it straightened out for one configuration/platform
combination, it changes it for the others!

This seems like a very serious bug. Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks,
Bob
