100% increase in build times under Windows XP SP2

| I have a compaq n800v laptop with dual boot, one with XP & Service Pack 1
and another with XP & Service Pack 2.
I've noticed a dramatic increase in compile times on the partition with
Service Pack 2 installed.
Using Visual Studio 2003 I've timed the build of a solution with 24 targets
multiple times on both partitions. Under service pack 2 the build is taking
on average 59 secs, on XP with service pack 1 the same solution is taking 27
secs.
Can anyone else replicate these results ?
Thanks in advance

| I've managed to sort out my problems here... SP2 wasn't the culprit after
all. After shutting down a spurious Compaq service I found my compile times
to be roughly equivalent to the times from my SP1 partition (which also had
this service turned off).
It still seems to be consistently faster under SP1 but only by a small
percentage which could again be attributed to something else entirely...
Sorry for crying wolf...
