Vista Beta 2 (Ultimate) Internet (web) throughput really slow

Have installed Vista Beta 2 on an IBM ThinkPad T42p (1.8Mhz, 128MB MOBILITY
FIRE GL, 2GB RAM, Intel PRO/1000 & Intel PRO/2200BG) and specifically web
access throughput is crippled (like 30% of 7Mb update in... 3Hrs!) - other
performance including local network throughput is fine.
WAN/Internet throughput on trusty XP desktop is currently at 3.27 Mbps
measured via www.numion.com/youspeed.

Have tried switching off firewall, various security settings but to no
avail.. clean build (Office 2007 Beta 2 & Skype 2.0.0.107 installed) - any
ideas most appreciated!
