Author Convert WinXP MSDN to Commercial version

I have a test PC with WinXP Pro installed from MSDN. I want to convert it for
use in the public demain. There are commercial (non-MSDN) programs already
installed on the PC and I don't want to erase them by doing a fresh install.
Is there any way to buy a new commercial license and simply reactivate the
MSDN version as a commercial version? If this doesn't work, can I simply buy
a full (or upgrade) version of WinXP Pro and install it over the MSDN version?

Making a SysPrep of the system and rebooting will probably solve your
problem because you will have to reenter a new installation key.

However, I never used this command myself so I cannot tell you more about
this.

Hi,

This will not work, the key entered must still match the install media

To change the key type, do an in-place install with the new disc. Be sure
to backup all important data first, of course, and afterwards all
patches/hotfixes must be reinstalled
