| MSDN has sent me a renewal letter that allows me to renew my professional
subscription for $899. This offer is described at
http://msdn.microsoft.com/howtobuy/...rs/default.aspx
When VS2005 is released, I end up with the Professional Edition. However, if
I wait until VS2005 is released, I can upgrade to the Professional Edition
for $799 as described on
http://msdn.microsoft.com/howtobuy/...ns/Default.aspx
When I called to find out if this was just an IQ test, they offered to give
me an extra month on my subscription if I give them $899 now instead of $799
later. That is another IQ test (1/12 of $899 is not worth $100).
MICROSOFT - do you really think your customers are this stupid? Does anyone
look at this stuff?
The letter you sent me gives me an option to upgrade to Enterprise, then
tells me that Universal customers get such and such (doesn't say anything
about Enterprise).
The second web site above says (note 4) that any active or expiring
subscription can get the $799 price. But look at note 3 - in order to get
the renewal price for the team system you must have an "expiring
subscription of the same edition". Does anyone on the planet have an
expiring subscription of something that has never been released?
There seems to be no way to go to the Premium Professional edition - you can
wait until it is released and upgrade to it for $1999. This is another IQ
test. Or you can upgrade to Enterprise now for $1599, then get the Developer
team system which inlcudes it, then downgrade to it next year. So are there
any homo sapiens on the planet that would ever pay the $1999 price - or in
other words, just who is that price for?
This stuff is nonsense and the people who came up with all of these
incompatible options should be taken to task for it.
