| Hi,
Is there any way to remain on CD subscription, or will everyone be
forced to have DVD?

| What if the download file is for example 750MB bootable . Do you think =
that it should go on 2 CD's. Right now all programs over the size of =
650MB is being put on DVD. The 650mb is an estimate on my part. I doubt =
that MSDN will put everything on DVD. They will and as they should any =
that does not fit on a CD.

| Hi Peter,

It means it's bloated and badly designed, and anyway they are still
offering ISOs for CD creation.

Not really, I can't think of any reason a 750Mb boot image would be
needed - I mean ancilliary programs could go on a second CD. But this is
not the issue right now. The issue is that Microsoft appear to be saying
they want everyone to be on DVD, even if the programs being supplied are
small.

DVDs have been going for years now... what's the problem? Anyway, you'd
better get used to it. Vista 'requires' a DVD player to even be installed.

OK.

We have 1000 Dell PCs with CD-ROM only. Does that mean we won't be able
to migrate to Vista?

I don't know! Have a look at the following. It seems to imply that certain
lower spec PCs will run Vista, but obviously not as well as newer systems:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/wi...re/default.mspx
What it doesn't support is what Microsoft said in the last MSDN shipment,
that included beta 1. They specifically said that a DVD was required.

Yes, I found this note in my MSDN shipment too. In general, I'd be
expecting to roll it out over the network as a silent install, so I
don't expect to need to DVD on every PC, but it's something to be aware
of just in case.
