| Hi,
I am trying to use the download site and it keeps saying the downoad is
suspended. I click on resume and reselect the directory to download to but
it goes back to suspended. Any answers??
Thanks, Doug.

| Peter, I tried clearing the logs but this did not change the status of the
download.

| Bryan Walker on this newsgroup is having a similar problem under suspended
downloads heading.

| Doug;
I have had absolutely no luck with this “Suspended” download issue and I
have attempted just about everything I can think of, cleared logs, different
computers, different OSes…and nothing has allowed for ANY download that
reported “Suspended” to actually download properly.
Right now I am at the mercy of MS as I have a ticket in with them regarding
this issue, unfortunately it has been a complete w and I have not
received an answer to why this “Suspended” download is happening.
If by chance you find resolve, please update the NG with the remedy.
Thanks,

| The below listed email from MSDN support indicates the issue that caused this
problem, however I find it somewhat inaccurate as I know I already had
attempted this remedy without resolve; I utilized a basic path to the root
using 8.3 naming convention and it still hung in "Suspended" mode. In any
event, whatever MS changed, it is working now - pathed to the root in 8.3
naming convention that is!
Hello Bryan,
This is Farrah and I am taking ownership of this case. I apologize for the
delayed response.
Based on the screen shot that you provided, it seems that a wrong path was
selected to download the file.
To resolve this issue, you need to correct the path. Please make sure that
the path does not contain any of the following words:
- “..”
- “startup”
- “windir”
- “System”
- “system32”
Best wishes;
Bryan

| I have been away for a few w s so I could not access the MSDN site. Tried
yesterday with out success.
Finally using Bryan's suggestion of changing my download directory to one
just off root and using the 8.3 format I could get a file to download.
My original directory I was trying to download to was
c:\doug\download\msdn\operating systems\ but could not get anything to
download. I then tried c:\doug\ and it worked. So I tried to
c:\doug\download\msdn\ and it also work. Next I tried
c:\doug\download\msdn\operSys\ and it worked. So therefore the download
software does not like long directory names with spaces in them.
Cheers Doug.
