Author IE7 Beta 2 not 1

hmmmmm...found this quote on CNET:

"Microsoft lead product manager Greg Sullivan said Microsoft is not planning
for a downloadable version of IE 7 to be made publicly available until Beta
2. "

Im surprised at that one...do you know if this is really the case Andy?

thanks
AndyG.

I couldn't say, but I can say that IE7 is not currently in my schedule to
publish. This could change, of course, but for now I don't have any plans
to publish it.

The IE team just posted on their blog (http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/) that IE7
Beta 1 for XP SP2 is now available for MSDN subscribers. I need to test IE7
Beta 1 on XP SP2, not on Vista (we're developing an IE add-on). You really
should publish IE7 Beta 1 for XP SP2 on Subscriber Downloads soon.

Thank you,
Roland

I'll look into it, and check into who's saying what on their blogs since
they seem to know something about what's going on my Web site that I don't.

As you can imagine, the announcement http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/default.aspx
that ie7 beta is available has caused a little excitement around the traps.
Is it true? If not, can you please amend the blog post or get it amended? Or
even better, make it available ;-)

I just spent the last hour wandering aimlessly around the MSDN site looking
for a download link... only to find out here that it doesn't exist yet.

Cheers.

there's a chunk of techie bits on IE7 here..
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/IE/ie7/default.mspx

it also says...
"If you are a Web or software developer and want to test Internet Explorer 7
Beta 1, you can access it via your MSDN subscription"

HA! Next they'll be saying you can get downtown Seattle from Lynwood in a
half hour!!
I guess the IE7 team didnt realise Andy Boyd has a life and goes home at the
end of the day!!

Im sure all will be well in the morning when we wake up and Andy will have
saved us ;)

thanks in anticipation :)

Sort of a left-hand, right-hand type of deal, I was focusing on Longhorn
release and didn't realize that the IE beta had been promised. Got this
published late last night, which is still within half a day of RTM, which
isn't too bad. Sorry for the delay,

Yeah, I'm a pretty big man around here. <g>.

Actually, my efforts right now are heavily geared towards a major update to
the subscriber downloads site that is coming out soon - I'll probably start
to post updates on it soon but it's basically a totally new platform.
