Can someone tell me how he or she managed to burn the Visual Studio Beta
2 image to a DVD? I have tried it with Nero 6 and ISO recorder which
are recommended in the FAQ. ISO recorder says the media is "Blank
writable - non usuable" and fails to try. Nero burns the disk, and
shows the correct size for the data in nero, but when I try to use the
disk it appears blank in explorer and any other programs. BTW, I am
trying to use DVD+R 4.7GB Maxell DVD's.

Can anyone tell me how they did it?

I mounted ISO image as a drive using Nero ImageDrive and install from that
drive. No DVD burners/media required.

I must have a bad image because that didn't work for me either. I got
the error message "Windows cannot read from this disk. The disk might
be corrupted or it could be using a format that is not compatable with
windows." The download manager said my image was successful. I was
unable to find any verification signature on the msdn site. I will try
redownloading tonight.

ImageDrive is a neat tool that I was unaware of.

A bunch of suggestions (including a few free tools) for ISO burning:
http://iso.snoekonline.com/iso.htm

Have fun!

For DVDs, I've been using DVDDecrypter, which I believe is at
http://www.dvddecrypter.com.

I have now downloaded the file twice. Both versions are exactly the
same size and the download manager said they were successfully
downloaded. From dvddecrypter I get an error message,

"Invalid or unsupported image file format."

I get the same error message using Nero ImageDrive that I got using the
origional file I downloaded, which is

"Windows cannot read from this disk. The disk might be corrupted, or it
could be using a format that is not compatible with Windows." The image
from microsoft is ".iso"

Is it possible that the file is corrupt on microsoft's servers?
Remember that I have downloaded it twice from the msdn site with the
same results. The file I am trying to use is:
"en_vs_2005_pro_beta_2_dvd.iso" which is listed on the msdn download
site as "Visual Studio 2005 Professional Edition Beta 2 DVD."

Any ideas?

I am having the same problem. Anyone have any idea if the image on the
Microsoft server is bad?

It looks like there may have been an issue with B2 Professional (not
Standard or Suite), which was posted by my team last Wednesday. We have
just updated the product in Subscriber Downloads and it should be fine now.
My apologies to everyone who got this build, we're investigating now to see
if we can figure out where our content process went wrong. We have a system
to ensure that large files get reliably copied from the release tools into
Subscriber Downloads with checks at each step in that process, but for some
reason they didn't work here.

Hmmmm... maybe still a small problem? The MSDN Subscriber link to the ISO is
not working. The other VS05 links open MS File Xfer Mgr for download, but
not VS Prof 05. Tx.

Works for me, can I ask you to try again and if it's still not working to
send a Contact Us escalation?

It will be tomorrow morning before I have the new image. If it doesn't
work, I will try to figure out what a "Contact Us escalation" is to do
that, and I will post it here. If it does work, I'll just post it here.
