Hello,

We have MSDN DVD's which can be used to create Windows Setup CD's.
My boss tried and the CD will not work as a setup disk. I think he said he
just copied the files off the DVD.

How do you go about doing this?

Any help would be appreciated.

Ragnar

You'll need to burn the ISO images from the ISO Images DVD using an
application such as Nero. The Windows XP built in CD writing feature doesn't
have the option to write a bootable CD. Just copying the files over from the
standard DVDs will only work if you don't want to boot from the created CD.

I'm glad I stuck with the "real" CDs.

Thanks to all,

Your posts were a big help, saved a lot of grief and aggravation.
Sometimes I wonder what Microsoft's programmers were thinking.

The DVDs themselves are bootable, you get an option menu to select which
Windows version you want to install. In the event that you have only a CD
drive but a DVD description, we put the CD ISO images on a separate disc
that can be burned to an individual CD to make a bootable disc image. These
are the same ISO CD images available on the MSDN Subscriber Downloads site.
