I am trying to download the 5231 Build of Vista. I have tried on the MSDN
site and the MicrosoftConnect site. All I ca get is a dialog with caption
"VBScript: File Transfer Manager" with message of "There was an error
launching the File Transfer Manager. Please try again later or contact your
help provider.". I have tried on both my Windows XPSP machine and my Windows
Server 2003 machine with no success. I have seen reference to KB896688 is a
bad patch released my Microsoft and it''s causing the problem. Does someone
out there have any idea as how to get my File Transfer Manager working
again?

Well here is the solution if anyone cares...

It seems that the Microsoft Security Update KB896688 causes some problems.
Open notepad and add the following:

**
****************************************
****************************************
******
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{0000031A-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}]
@="ClassMoniker"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{0000031A-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}\InprocServer32]
@="ole32.dll"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{0000031A-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}\ProgID]
@="clsid"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLS
ID\CLSID]
@="{0000031A-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}"

****************************************
****************************************
********

Save the file as IE_OLE_Fix.reg and double click to execute. When these
entries are entered in your registry
IE will start allowing ActiveX controls again and this does include the MSDN
File Transfer Manager object.
