recover used MSDN activations?

I have an MSDN subscription with 10 activations of WinXP. There are a
few machines previously activated that are no longer in service. How
do I recover these unused activations so I can use them on newer
machines?

You don't.

Once you have used all 10, you simply call the activation center to request
further activations. Tip: it will NOT work if you say, "I'd like another 100
activations so I can sell them overseas, share them with my friends, etc."
