Microsoft File Transfer Manager - Crashing

| Hello.
I have been using FTM for a while now with no problems, but all of a sudden it is crashing out on startup.
The status bar says its 'Validating Application' and thenit crashes out, usually after about 5 seconds of 'validating application'
This happens every time it gets loaded up, and i hgave tried to delete the dlc and reinstall several time, i've been unable to find a fix for this, and wonder if there is a way to strip out FTM completely from the system/registry so that it may install p
roperly and run successfully.
Has anyone seen this behaviour ? or know of a way to fix it ?
The FTM doesnt seem to have any log file or helpful information as to why it is crashing and is quite frustrating that this core piece of software doesnt have a more substantial debug mode with in it, after all it is for use by mostly developers and suchl
ike.
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers
Richard.

| Did you ever get an answer to this? We have a problem where it tries to validate, pops a message saying it can't and asking if we want to transfer anyway. Answer yes and it tries to start the transfer, but then pops up a message box saying the web site
is busy, to try again later. Doesn't matter when we try- the same errors.
This began when a new proxy was installed. Never had a problem before that, and don't have a problem from locations outside the proxy. Our Network people said they need to know the protocol and ports of the FTM in order to troubleshoot the problem, but
I can't find those anywhere.
Anyone have any ideas?

| Hi Richard,
I have the identical problem. I'm waiting for a support person from
Microsoft to call me, somebody from MSDN Support opened an incident for
me....I'm really curios whether this would work...
Even the installation of the XP SP2 doesn't help.
In the mean time, I'll try your last suggestion to create another user name
and try with that one.

| After creating another user on my machine, making it member of the
Administrators group, it's working...exactly like for Richard...
Thanks a lot Richard, at least I'm able to download further what I need. I
assume that the crash has something to do with the "validation" procedure of
the TransferMgr.exe and that specific user. The only relevant thing I can
think of, is that I recently installed the MSN Messenger 7.0 BETA, and I
allways de-activate the option to link my MSN passport (the one that I'm also
using for the MSDN subscription), to my Windows XP user account.
