Windows XP constantly sends SCSI Test Unit Ready's
to my tape drive. Is there a way to programmatically
turn this off then back on?

The problem is with the process of loading new firmware
to the tape drive. After sending the new code to the
drive via SCSI Write Buffer's, the drive needs about 5
seconds without any SCSI traffic directed its way.
Unfortunately, starting with XP, Windows sends a Test
Unit Ready about once per second to each SCSI device.
