Author Slow MSDN download?

I guess this is normal for MSDN downloads. I usually get about 10-60
kbytes/s from MSDN but get as much as 1015 kbytes/s from a few other sites.
Nothing wrong with my fiber...

Oh well :-( I'll leave it downloading then...

Cheers, Rob.

We are in the middle of a major platform upgrade, which has affected
download speeds somewhat. The good news is that in the very immediate
future (early this w, most likely) we'll be finalizing a cutover to the
new download servers which will significantly increase both our server
capacity and download bandwidth for MSDN Subscriber Downloads.

We've been using MSDN subscriber downloads for many years and never had any
good download speeds. Let's hope the new download servers have better
capacity. The two lines I am using (a 2mbit fiber and a 10mbit fiber) can do
alot better than 10-60kbytes/s.

Just downloaded SourceSafe 6.0d and it downloaded at a very healthy 70KB/s
which is almost full broadband speed for me.

Cheers, Rob.

Wow.... Over 200KB/s here (in the UK) .... That's some improvement Andy !!!

Loz.

Thanks. Our average transfer speeds are *way* up, particularly in Europe
and Asia. In addition to considerably more bandwidth in these datacenters
our new download system offloads a good deal of the encryption and
packet-checking overhead to hardware which was another bottleneck during
peak downloads.
