Author Viewing MSDN docs without VS.NET

Having now spent approximately half a day trying to view the MSDN docs I
got on CD from MS, I'm at the verge of giving up and using some really
old Win95 help file from Borland. All I want is to view the MSDN docs
offline (at some speed - I'm on an ISDN line), but as I don't have
VS.NET (nor any intention of getting it) this would seem to be rather a
difficult endeavour...

I have DExplore and HXreg from the "MS Help 2 SDK", and the MS Help 2
SDK docs, but I cannot for the life of it seem to make it (or IE6) open
the MSDN CoreSDK docs, no matter how I try to register it or open it.

Does anyone have any hints for me?

Cheers,

If you received all 3 CDs for MSDN Library, the first CD contains a Setup
for the Library viewer. You do NOT have to install VS .NET to get the
Library viewer. The Library viewer is completely free and bundled with the
Library docs, so there is no reason you should not have it, unless you are
missing Disc 1.

If you really insist on an alternate viewer for some reason, see

Why not? It's a very impressive development environment.

Rob.
