How to: Icon Overlay

| I'm new to shell programming using Visual Basic 6.0.
I'm developing a VB 6.0 application that process files, and I want to
add an overlay icon to the files my application processes.
In other words, after my application finish processing a file, I want
it to be able to add an overlay icon to that file so when it's
displayed in Explorer it shows that it has been processed by my
application (i.e., similar to the arrow icon dispalying when creating
a shortcut link).
I've read the Microsoft "Creating Icon Overlay Handlers" online
document, but I don't quit get it.
Does any one know how to do that? A sample code would be greatly
appreciated.
Thanks.
