does mappoint 2004 provide me with global maps so I can plot my global
partners onto a map using their postal codes? Or is this a separate
product/upgrade?

Yeah it has the world in there. Whether or not the postal codes are
available outside of North America, you might want to post this in the
mappoint newsgroup.
