VS.NET 2003 randomly freezes while using MSDN

Windows XP Pro SP2

Hello,

Since a few days now, when I double-click an item in the "Search Results for
.... " window, Visual Studio .NET 2003 randomly becomes unresponsive, the
caption bar says (Not Responding) and the status bar continuously says
"Downloading..."

When this happens I cannot kill the devenv.exe process in Task Manager, I
cannot even shut down or restart the system using Start > Turn Off Computer.
The system is otherwise responsive but I cannot use VS and MSDN. Only the
Reset button allows the system to recover!

I tried to reinstall the MSDN to no avail. If you have any idea what might
be wrong please let me know. Thank you.
