Licensing Question

I was wondering how other companies create test environments for learning
about the different MS products. For example, I have an MSDN license which
I can install and test out the various software. But how do other employees
do the testing as well? If they each get their own MSDN license, the
company is still limited to only ten activations of certain products, right?

I guess my question is how and what do people buy to create experimenting
platforms to learn about the products? For example, SharePoint portal needs
a portal license and a server license at minimum.

Any approaches?
