Where Are Folders Info Stored?

Does anyone know where the folders info are stored at. Example: In My

Music folder, I have the folder types at MusicArtist. This sets
everthing at Thumbnail View and I can right click a sub-folder so I can

use "Add to Now Playing List". I noticed there's a file called
desktop.ini. This doesn't seem to be consistent as I can delete this
file and nothing changes. My guess is the folder info is stored
somewhere else like the registry or something.

Basically, I want to write a program that can go into specific folders
and automatically set each folder type. Here's a link to give a visual
