Author Problems installing VB SP6

I'm having problems installing the above service pack.

First I downloaded and burnt it onto a cd - I double clicked on the file but
got a message saying that the exe file couldn't start. I then downloaded
again (direct onto my desktop) and the files were extracted into a folder I
created on my desktop.

I doubled clicked setup and got the same error.

I'm using win98se on a dell inspiron laptop.

Any suggestions

I have heard a lot of bad stuff about SP6

Maybe you should be happy to have this problem,
this way you don't have to un-install VB and re-install
it with up to SP5 again.....

r u trying to install from the copy on the hard drive or on the cd?

try the copy on the hard drive
