Knowing both C# (good enough) and Java (extremely well),
I think the C# community does not seem to know how to take
advantage of the Java virtual machine when it is likely
to be in your machines already. I know Dell, HP, ???
have already included Java JRE 1.4.2 in all PCs built since 2003.

To show you the power of Java JRE, I have a free
web calc (4Cals) which
is web-based, consisting of four calculators and a logging pad. It is
simple and intuitive. You are invited to try this demo
at:

NOTE: 4Calcs requires Java virtual machine (JRE) 1.3.0 or later. If
your PC does not have adequate JRE, 4Calcs can optionally download and
install JRE automatically.

I'm a little as to what was the point of this post? To
convince all of us that we should be using Java? Or perhaps simply
self-promotion?

For most of us, the fact that the JVM is loaded "on the machine
already" is hardly the determining factor in deciding which programming
language to use.

Anyway, Microsoft's automated path and update utility practically
guarantees that the .NET Framework is "on the machine already" for far
more PCs than have the newest JVM on them.
