ASP .NET - LoginStatus control

Has anybody observed the use of the LoginStatus control? Selecting it emits
two clicks where as other selections emit one click. I've tested this
control in a clean page to isolate the behavior. Its not the sound the
double clicks that disturbs me as much as not understanding why they occur
and the fact that this control is really really really slow to load the
login control itself. What can be going on here?
