Another thing:

I never really understood the boot machinery of my suse. But what I
understood was that the boot machinery highly differs from machine to
machine. So I feel like setting a system variable, and want it to be
available relatively late in boot process - runlevel 5 would be ok,
actually it must be available only after the start of KDE. What do I
hack into my RPM spec file? Where do I set it up, so it's being set
again on next boot?

Thanks a lot,

niko
