[ANN] New version of Tcl/Tk Qt Integration Framework Tq Released
|

| reggie 2005-06-08, 4:01 pm |
| Hamburg, Germany - 2005-06-08 froglogic GmbH today released Tq 2.0,
the framework to integrate Tcl/Tk and Qt.
Tq enables integrating the Tcl/Tk and Qt toolkits in a single
application. This way it is possible to incrementally port Tcl/Tk
applications to Qt while still keeping Tk components running in the
new application. Besides event loop integration, Tq ensures modal
dialog behavior accross toolkit boundaries, adjusts color schemes and
allows embedding Tk widgets into Qt widgets.
The following new features have been added to Tq 2.0:
- Via the new TqCargo class it is now also possible to embed Qt
widgets into Tk windows. This opens up completely new possibilities
such as using popular Qt components in existing Tk applications.
- Via the TqHook() it is now possible to integrate a Qt event loop
into a Tk application without changing Tk_Main(). This is necessary
when developers don't have access to the complete source code of the
Tk application.
- An improved TqConsole provides a complete interactive Tcl/Tk console
replacement for wish.
Availability
Tq customers and evaluators can now find Tq 2.0 packages in their
download area. For more information about Tq or to obtain an
evaluation version of Tq, visit http://www.froglogic.com/tq or contact
us at tq@froglogic.com.

Your product sounds very interesting, at least from reading your web page.
However, at 800 EUR + GST for a single licence there is *no* way that I
could afford or justify the cost.
Is there any possibility that you could release the product, at least under
Linux, with the dual licence set up as Trolltech themselves have done?
Rob.
