iwidget extfileselectionbox bug or feature

I'm using the iwidgets (4.0.1) extfileselectionbox widget. If I
navigate the directory and file lists and select a file, the full path
to the file is returned. However, if I navigate just directories and
then type in a filename, only the filename is return - no directory
path. Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug (feature). How do I
get it to return the full path.
