I was just wondering ...

.... how many people are using PostgreSQL in a production environment (i.e.
not just for Store)?

We use PostgreSQL for the OpenSkills membership management system, so
there's one production system at least :-)

Thanks,
Bruce

My employer uses PostgreSQL for a variety of in-house servers, and we
ship it as part of our embedded security appliances. So add 3000 or so
happily running DBs to your total.

I'm developing a repair shop management system with PostgreSQL and
VW7.3.1 right now. So far so good!

I know of at least one portal-type system with about 300k users with typically
over 10k simultaneously logged in that uses PostgreSQL as its database backend.
Switched over from MySQL when its unscalability became too evident, I believe.

I think many people are waiting for some excellent programmers to stand
up and write the Lens in VW.

There is no need to do that, Glorp is what should be used.

Ah, yes. Lens.

Well, I think you can expect nothing to happen on this front unless and
until you can find a "good programmer" that really feels the need to do
this even though they know their work will be trash in the near future, or
until there is a business case that includes some funding.

Maarten, if you want to take this on, let me know. I have some code
already that may help you get started.

Oké thank you.

I installed the Glorp parcels, that creates a lot of new classes but
little resources.

Where do I start ?

As we worked on the OpenSkills membership system we made notes in our wiki
here:

If you find any errors, please feel free to correct them :-)

All the best,
Bruce
