| As per request of James Robertson from Cincom, I am retracting my
previous statement about the "unsupported" Cincom Smalltalk products.
My intent was to state that some of the Smalltalk products are least
supported. It is certainly true about VSE, especially the older 2.x
versions. ObjectStudio is under active development and there are plans
for better common platform between ObjectStudio and VisualWorks as Alan
Knight clearly explains in this thread. So, again, I apologize for
misrepresenting the current state of Cincom's Smalltalk products.
This was not the purpose of this thread, rather it's goals where to
announce that Instantiations will be evolving VAST, their tight
partnership with IBM and Synchrony's role as well.
Synchrony's focus is on providing Migration Readiness tools and
services, and in-place Re-architecture and redesign capabilities for
existing VAST and other Smalltalk applications to prepare them for a
component-oriented and service-oriented architecture, moving away from
a tradition "fat-client" architecture. Migration away from Smalltalk or
to another Smalltalk is another offering and solution.
We'll be updating our Website shortly to explain our role in more
details.
