From computer legend Dr.Alan Kay the Opencroquet Developers' Release
(Jasmine) is now available

Time to party ;-)
The developers' release ("not yet alpha") of the open-source Croquet
system "Jasmine" is now available for Windows, Linux, and Mac! 3D
accelerator is required. This is an update from
http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=03/03/12/135245

Notes:
-The download links bring up a popup. Please use the torrent files!
For me it took less than 3min to download the about 60MB at (2880mbps)
with bit torrent.
-You need to extract the compressed image to a folder first after
download (especially MAC users ;-) ) You will need to update
Croquet regularly, already six small fix updates. To update: Once you
get it, and extract it, just open it up in that new folder, for
windows it's a "croquet.exe" link. Once world is opened, right click
the background of it, then select "load latest code updates",
"jasmine", click ok, then left click background, and save.
-To get the communications part (TeaTime) of Croquet to work you
need to check on any firewall or NAT from preventing communications.
(if you decide to put your self in the DMZ with your firewall
disabled, then make sure you update your system with all of its
security updates first)
-Croquet is built on top of squeak. Version 3.6 of squeak is
included although the newest version 3.7 from
http://www.squeak.org/download/ "should" also work if you are already
using this, if not, then use 3.6 as you will not really see difference
in reference to Croquet.
