Don't knock it til you've tried it. I suggest trying to write your
Scheme code in Emacs (preferably with Quack) with autoindenting and
matching-paren highlighting, and following the formatting conventions
you see in most Scheme code. You might quickly see the value in these
conventions for Scheme.
