:CueCat programming: How to strip the "Hard Return" from the scan?

| Hello all,
There is an inexpensive scanner out there (the :CueCat) that is from a now
bankrupt company, Digital Convergence.
This sure looks like a good tool for what I am trying to do,
except I have 2 definite problems:
1) I need the "hard return" stripped from the output.
2) I do not program in order to write a script to strip this hard
return from the scan in a Windows 98/2000/XP environment.
My application requires control codes like "tab" and "hard return" to be
encoded in the barcode itself.
I was trying to find a low cost way to take care of the finances at our
church (www.manited.net) It's always a pain to be the financial secretary
and using bar codes on the envelopes and basing the system on this seems
like a great way to have a low-cost way to cut time, cost, and make it more
accurate AND easier! When I saw the CueCat, it seemed like a GRAND way to
do this at really low cost...
So I bought two (a PS2 and a USB) and they scan pretty well... definitely
good enough after learning how to hold them.
Only glitch is... the software it is being used in requires some scans have
a "tab" at the end and some scans have a "hard return" at the end... so it's
best to include these control functions inside the barcode... using
something like extended 39 or Code 128-b
These are the only 2 codes required... so I guess the other alternative
would be *IF* there was a way to code the bar-code itself to ignore the HR
and use a TAB instead.
Would be nice... but as of now it seems I have 2 dead cats... guess that has
been the life-story of these devices!
There only appears to be leftovers... fragments of the :Cat community
left... so it's proving difficult to find somebody who also finds this
interesting and may have the expertise to write that routine for the filter.
If you know of somebody or a direction to go... I'd be very grateful.
Thanks again,
Clinton Meyer

| Thank you for your comments, but I am hoping to find somebody who may be
interested in this project who CAN write code! :) When I scan, it returns
the scanned data PLUS a hard return. I want to eliminate the hard return.
These are great little scanners... and low cost, but without the ability to
strip the HR, they are pretty much useless.
Would you have any interest in a project like this?
Regards,
Clinton
