SICStus Prolog 4 was released on March 1, 2007.

The technical highlights of the new release are:
- Virtual machine changes allowing programs to use the full virtual
address space, and in most cases run faster than before.
- Full commitment to the ISO Prolog standard and to UNICODE.
- A richer set of library modules, resulting from a merger with the
Quintus Prolog library.
- A new I/O system with less overhead, more functionality, and better
portability.
