Eclipse going commercial?...
|
|
|
| From Exlipse web site:
"The future of ECLiPSe licensing is currently under negotiation, and
therefore new licences are currently unavailable. Any change in this
situation will be announced on this web site...."
Interesting... "under negoriation" with whom? EU?... Any chance that
Eclipse will not go 100% commercial?... Market is rather small...

Ok, let me comment on this, not in any official capacity, just
because I have some insight into what's currently going on.
The good news is, an open-sourcing effort is underway. If
statements of intent can be believed, there is a good chance
that ECLiPSe will be released under an open-source licence
within w s. Negotiations are still ongoing, but I can
assure you that the ECLiPSe developers will do everything
they can to make it happen.
Until then, the current state of limbo unfortunately continues,
i.e. although existing licence holders can download ECLiPSe
from http://eclipse.crosscoreop.com, no new licences can be
issued, because the owner of the rights hasn't given us the
authority.
Comments, letters of support, etc. welcome!
