Author Help setting up ghostscript, please

I have installed the driver for a ps printer and i can produce jpeg
files. These files however when i try to open them have the error
"unknown file format". This is what i have done so far.

Downloaded redmon, GSview and ghostscript.

Set up the printer (ps) and configured port RPT1 as follows
redirect - C:\gs\gs8.50\bin\gswin32c.exe
argument - @c:\gs\jpeg.rsp -sOutputFile="%1%%02d.jpeg" -
(will probably try to set where the images are saved to later)

Output - prompt for filename
run - hidden

jpeg.rsp contains:
-IC:\gs\gs8.50\lib;c:\gs\fonts
-sDEVICE=jpeg -r300x300
-dJPEGQ=85
-dSAFER

If i were to go onto the internet and rightclick a picture, selecting
print and using the jpeg printer, i enter the file name, but do not
select the save as type. After i have ok'd this i can get to the
image which has been saved as a jpeg, but the error keeps coming up
when i try to open it.

I have assumed that anything that i try to print can be saved as a
jpeg. Is this correct?

thanks for any help.
