Author Saving Color Graphics to PostScript on Windows XP

I would like to save windows graphics to Postscript files so that I
can encapsulate them with GhostScript and include them as figures in
LaTeX documents. On Windows ME, I can do this with aps426eng. I.e. I
install the "Generic Postscript Printer" and print the graphics to a
(Postscript) file. I have found what appears to be an equivalent
driver for Windows XP, winsteng. However the graphics always come out
in grey-scale. I was wondering if there was a way to save colo(u)r
graphics as PostScript files on Windows XP.
Many thanks in advance,
Peter.

Actually that's a breach of the license for the AdobePS driver, but
that's not your technical problem.

The "Generic" driver would better be called a "lowest common
denominator" driver. It has no features that might not be found in
every printer; to put it another way it is a printer with no features.
It has only standard (a4, letter) paper sizes, and is black and white.

It is almost NEVER the best choice for generating PostScript.

Ideal would be a PPD file customized for GhostScript. I haven't noted
any discussion of a PPD file (ideally, INF/PPD combinations for
Windows 9x and Windows NT systems separately), prepared for
GhostScript. I hope I've just missed it, or is there really no such
animal?

If there is no such animal, you could do worse than to use a Tektronix
Phaser driver. No need to download a driver; never was. Just use the
ADD PRINTER icon.

Thank you for pointing that out. It was not clear from the licensing
agreement but it have removed the driver and printer since you
probably understand it better than I. I took your advice and
installed the Tektronix
Phaser driver.

Thanks,
Peter.
