You're right, I tend to lump diagnostics and debugging features as a
given and would have probably been included in my #4. I understand
that the majority of Fortran users use it for possibly limited
applications in which raw number crunching is the most important
factor. My goal is always to expand the number of problem domains for
which Fortran is suitable for. I have no desire to damage it for it's
primary domain however. It's a challenge to know exactly what feature
set would serve to expand it's suitability for a wider variety of
problem domains. I have my own isolated views based upon embedded
processor development more so than commercial/workstation/PC
development.
