Intel Fortran and VS 2003 and 2005

| Hi Guys,
VS 2003 and 2005 and Intel Fortran may in fact be OK software but the
istallation and un-install routines suck so bad that even I, a
moderately tolerant individual, will abandon them.
Since I also work for a very large company, starting Monday next, I
will be doing everything I can possibly do to remove these terribly
mal-formed softwares from my company.
I , as opposed to most, only need to get F*^&%@ in the A$$ one time to
understand that the relationship was not "optimal".
Steve Lionel, please understand that this is not directed at you.
Sincerely,
James E. Klein

Jim,
I'm sorry that you felt it necessary to write this (and your other
threads) to the newsgroup rather than s ing help from us at Intel
Premier Support. I don't know what caused your particular issues, but
your experience is not typical of Intel Fortran users. I've installed
and uninstalled the compiler hundreds of times and not encountered the
sort of things you describe, and I see just about every issue customers
send us and can't recall seeing anything like this. But it is a large
and full-featured product, as is Windows, and sometimes things do go
wrong. Unfortunately, sometimes when users try to use the registry
editor to "fix" a problem, they end up making it worse.
If you would like our help, please start at
http://www.intel.com/support/perfor...ortran/windows/ to learn
how to rrequest support from Intel. I can't find any evidence that you
have done so already. I'll look for your issue - I'm sure we can get
you going again.

OK, I will. What sort of support am I elligible to receive ?
With so many softwares offering nothing except pay as you go, I
assumed I was pretty much on my own, but if not, that is way .

This information is summarized in the product documentation and the
release notes, but I'll quote a fuller explanation from
http://www3.intel.com/cd/software/p.../eng/219989.htm
What is Intel=AE Premier Support and what do your support services
include?
Upon registering your purchase of a fully supported Intel Software
Development Product, you will receive one year of technical support and
product updates through Intel Premier Support, our interactive issue
management and communication web site. This premium support service
allows you to submit questions and issues privately to our expert
engineering support staff. You can download software updates as each
renewal makes another year of updates -which was not previously
released- available to the purchaser. find solutions to known problems,
or review the status of previously submitted issues. All communication
between you and our support staff is kept secure by 128-bit encryption.
This service is available only to registered customers during the
active time for the support services (including customers using
evaluation copies).
What Happens When Your Support Services Expire?
Your premium Intel Premier Support services expire after one year from
your product purchase date. At that point, your Premier Support account
access will be downgraded to a limited support services level for the
product for which services have expired. This means that you will not
be able to install and use product updates, which are available after
your support services expire. Also support issues you submit will
receive a lower priority for our attention in general. You may,
however, continue your support services by purchasing a renewal for the
product. Each renewal makes another year of updates -which was not
previously released- available to the purchaser. (The details for
product renewals can be found at
http://www.intel.com/software/products.)
