| Does anyone know how well Intel VF9 is integrated with VS2005? Or do we need
to wait for VF10?
Thanks.

| The browser issue has existed since Intel took over Fortran and the Fortran
team from Microsoft. This is another fine example of customer needs/desires
taking a back seat to megalithic corporate pissing contests. If I were
working at either company on this issue I'd be embarassed to admit that it
hasn't been resolved yet to the customer base's satisfaction. Perhaps
lawyers and marketers are involved.

| Not at all at this point, but they are working on it. Check the intel
forums for further information from Steve. I think the problem was that each
VS2005 beta broke the IVF integration so that it was decided to wait until
the final VS2005 is available. I think they are presently looking for beta
testers...

Who took over what from who? In past postings on this forum, you can
find explanations, from people who know first hand, of exactly what Dec
(not Intel) got from Microsoft.
I've previously seen misrepresentations of what portions of the software
were involved, but I don't recall ever before seeing even a suggestion
that any component of the Fortran "team" was transferred from Microsoft
to anyone... or are using "team" to mean something that doesn't involve
people.
I'll not comment on the merits or lack thereof of the various related
products and service. But that aside, the above-quoted wording distorts
the facts far beyond recognition.
