Hi guys. Thanks 100% for your help so far. I've tried in vain to save
screenshots of my memory error messages I get, but the system grinds to
a halt before I can save the screenshots in Paint.

I have however browsed around for similar errors, and uploaded what it
looks like on my Geocities website:

www.geocities.com/nonexistent2032/svchost.jpg
www.geocities.com/nonexistent2032/svchost2.jpg

The first one is in German. I don't understand the language. Language +
colour scheme aside, that is exactly what it looks like.

The second one is in English. It is similar in meaning to the one I'm
getting (an instruction at X referencing memory at Y and being unable
to read it, by svchost.exe)

I've tried testing my RAM with memtestx86, but no errors were detected.

So lets see...the problem(s):
1) Seems to be getting worse;
2) Happens in both Win XP and SuSE 9.2 O/Ses;
3) Have symptoms of:
- Memory errors + crashes soon after,
- Random FTP stalling,
- Recently I've also had problems with paging + controller HDD errors
on one HDD, but they seem to have gone away.
4) FTP stalls occur over a direct connect home LAN (NIC -> NIC connect)
and over the internet (ADSL USB modem -> NIC).

What a wierd collection of problems. The only common factor I see is my
primary home PC's hardware. Perhaps a faulty motherboard or dodgy power
supply?

I will try at alt.comp.hardware again. Please let me know if you guys
come up with any ideas.
