Don't feel constrained by attributes that others may sling around so
freely - "charlatan" sounds fine to me, academic vapor puff, even
better. Do keep the snake-oil* salesman accolade reserved for Intel rep
- in fact, he'd be awarded an Olympic gold medal if they ever staged the
event.

* The expression is also applied metaphorically to any product with
exaggerated marketing but questionable or unverifiable quality such as
bogus *VISUAL*ness.
