A 'snake-oil salesman' is someone peddling something that does not work,
whether they know it or not. Whereas, 'my' varying strings package (I
use quotes, since the module is no more than an implementation of part 2
of the Fortran standard) is, as far as I know, fully functional and
compliant with the standard. Likewise, my blank reduction code, which
relies on varying strings, is to the best of my knowledge without mistakes.

If you would like to point out errors in either, be my guest; otherwise,
please find an alternative ad hominem to serve as the fig leaf for your
incompetence.

cheers,

Rich
